Honoring Tung-ho Chen

The family of Tung-ho Chen is honoring his extraordinary legacy by establishing a scholarship fund for graduate students at the University of Louisville, where he earned his PhD in Physical Chemistry in 1960. After excelling at National Taiwan University, Tung-ho followed his dream of higher education in the U.S., earning a scholarship to UofL. His academic brilliance led him to complete his PhD in just two years, launching a long and impactful career.

As a senior research chemist for the U.S. Army at Picatinny Arsenal, Tung-ho spearheaded a groundbreaking project to detect plastic explosives, enhancing airline safety worldwide.

Now, through the Tung-ho Chen Endowed Graduate Student Scholarship Fund, his family seeks to support future UofL graduate students in their own quests for excellence, just as Tung-ho did. This scholarship not only celebrates his passion for education and science but also serves as an inspiration for others to create their own lasting legacies.
