Christina Lee Brown Envirome Institute

The Christina Lee Brown Envirome Institute’s research unites a multidisciplinary group to turn scientific discovery into actionable knowledge. In a world where zip code is a greater predictor of disease and longevity than genetic code, we are working to develop a new framework for understanding environmental conditions that diminish or promote health.

Green Heart Louisville Project

The Green Heart Louisville Project explores the scientific link between nature and human health by studying the effects of increasing urban greenness. The project is a clinical trial where trees are the medicine. By tackling two critical problems—air pollution and chronic disease—with a new, nature-based approach, the Green Heart Project hopes to create a platform for major change. What we learn in Louisville could improve the lives of people worldwide.

Trager MicroForest Project

The Trager MicroForest Project examines the impact of a small, intensely planted urban forest on human health and wellbeing, biodiversity, air quality, and microclimates. What we learn from this project could inform the way we combat climate change by integrating nature into urban environments to create healthier cities.
