WINGS
While the benefits of Experiential Learning, and specifically internships, are known, many UofL undergraduate students cannot afford to quit their job to participate in an unpaid internship. The WINGS (Working Internships in Non-Profit and Government Support) program was created to provide funding to support undergraduate students in completing unpaid internships at either 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations or government agencies. Students will receive $500-$2,500 to support them in completing their internship experience.
SROP
The Summer Research Opportunity Program provides University of Louisville undergraduate students with an immersive 10-week research experience with a faculty member, in any discipline, to learn more the process of creative scholarship. Students will present a poster on their research accomplishments at a Summer Research Showcase at the end of the experience. Students will receive $3,500 over the 10 weeks, and faculty mentors will receive a $500 supply allowance to support the student's research.
Undergraduate Research Microgrants
Research micro-grants, small financial grants provided to undergraduate students to support their research projects, allow students to gain valuable research experience, often in preparation for graduate school or careers in research-intensive fields, while also easing the financial burden of conducting their studies. These grants typically cover costs such as materials, equipment, travel for research purposes, or conference attendance. They are designed to encourage students to engage in independent research or creative projects under the guidance of a faculty mentor.
